  • Some 3rd parties like Facebook and Twitter may know you visited this website if you use their services. we can’t control them but we don’t believe this knowledge poses any threat to you.
  • Your data is protected through various security means that you can read more about below.
  • If you sign up with us (by creating an account) we take great care to keep your information safe and we’ll never share it with others without your express permission.
  • We never share your data with 3rd parties except to help us deliver our own services.

These are just the key points. If you need detail, keep reading.

 Our commitment to You:

  • We will do our very best to protect your personal privacy.
  • We will never sell your personal information to anyone.
  • We will never individually identify you to third parties without your consent.
  • We will clearly state why we are collecting personal information and how it will be used.
  • We will keep this policy as well as our privacy practices and systems up to date.
  • You have control over how your personal information is used.
  • You can inspect and edit your complete personal profile.

What specific information do we collect?

  • We collect information from you when you register on the site, place an order, enter a contest or sweepstakes, respond to a survey or communication such as e-mail, or participate in another site feature.
  • When ordering or registering, we may ask you for your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, credit card information or other information. You may, however, visit our site anonymously.
  • We also collect information about gift recipients so that we can fulfill the gift purchase. The information we collect about gift recipients is not used for marketing purposes.

Like many websites, we use "cookies" to enhance your experience and gather information about visitors and visits to our websites. Please refer to the "Do we use 'cookies'?" section below for information about cookies and how we use them.

How do we use your information?
We may use the information we collect from you when you register, purchase products, enter a contest or promotion, respond to a survey or marketing communication, surf the website, or use certain other site features in the following ways:

  • To personalize your site experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content and product offerings in which you are most interested.
  • To allow us to better service you in responding to your customer service requests.
  • To quickly process your transactions.
  • To administer a contest, promotion, survey or other site feature.
  • If you have opted-in to receive our e-mail newsletter, we may send you periodic e-mails. If you would no longer like to receive promotional e-mail from us, please refer to the "How can you opt-out, remove or modify information you have provided to us?" section below. If you have not opted-in to receive e-mail newsletters, you will not receive these e-mails. Visitors who register or participate in other site features such as marketing programs and 'members-only' content will be given a choice whether they would like to be on our e-mail list and receive e-mail communications from us.

How do we protect visitor information?
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. When you place orders or access your personal information, we offer the use of a secure server. All sensitive/credit information you supply is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our databases to be only accessed as stated above.

Do we use "cookies"?
Yes. VOI uses cookies only for your convenience, to allow you to easily move through "members-only" pages after login once per session. Without cookies, you would need to log in each time you browse to another members-only page.

A "cookie" is a small line of text that is stored with your Web browser when you visit a cookie-enabled Web site. The text can contain an identification code (such as "userID=28347234") or user preferences (such as "myFont=Helvetica"). As you browse the Web, cookie-enabled sites will send cookies to your browser along with Web pages; your browser has options that will let you control whether the browser accepts cookies, rejects cookies, or notifies you each time a cookie is sent to you.

If your browser is set to reject cookies, cookie-enabled Web sites will not recognize you when you return. This provides you with anonymity, but it also makes it very difficult to offer you customized services. It is also less secure than using cookies because all of your specific data must be sent to the Web site each time you view a page. Accepting cookies means your private data can stay at the Web server, and the only information going over the Internet is your ID cookie.

If your browser is set to accept cookies, any cookies that are sent to your browser are stored in your computer for a period of time. A "session" cookie is stored only in your computer's working memory ("RAM"), and only lasts for your browsing session. When you close all of your browser's windows, or when you shut down your computer, the session cookie disappears forever. A "permanent" cookie is stored on your computer's hard drive until a specified date (could be tomorrow, next week or 10 years from now). Permanent cookies stay on your computer until either: a) they expire, b) they are overwritten with newer cookies, or c) you manually remove them.

You can read more about cookies here.

 Information Collected by VOI

You're not required to submit any personal information to use the VOI Web site when you are not logged in to your registered account. However, you may choose to join VOI to view pricing or access certain parts of our website only for registered users, save time when you place orders and to provide you with a more personalized experience. If you wish to take advantage of these membership services, we will ask you to provide us with some personal information.

However, you can still place orders over the telephone by contacting customer service.

Measuring our Visitors

We measure visitors to our website using Google Analytics. This records what pages you view within our site, how you arrived at our site and some basic information about your computer. All of that information is anonymous – so we don’t know who you are; just that somebody visited our site.

The information we collect from analytics helps us understand what parts of our sites are doing well, how people arrive at our site and so on. Like most websites, we use this information to make our website better.

You can learn more about Google Analytics or opt out if you wish.

Facebook, Twitter and other Social Networks

These services provide social buttons and similar features which we use on our website – such as the “Like” and “Tweet” buttons.

To do so, we embed code that they provide and we do not control ourselves. To function their buttons generally know if you’re logged in; for example Facebook use this to say “x of your friends like this”. We do not have any access to that information, nor can we control how those networks use it.

Social networks therefore could know that you’re viewing this website, if you use their services (that isn’t to say they do, but their policies may change). As our website is remarkably inoffensive we imagine this is not a concern for most users.

If You Create an Account

When you sign up for any of our services, we will record specific personal information about you, such as your name and email address and other information that allows us to provide our services to you.

We will also collect and store information about your use of our services so as to improve them. For example, we keep a log of what features are being used at any time.

We also log account and transaction history for accounting purposes, and to monitor our business activities.

We have installed a number of security measures to protect the confidentiality of your personal information.

  1. We have a firewall to prevent unauthorized access to our systems.
  2. Your customer information lives on a separate database server that sits behind this firewall. We safeguard your information with an encryption technology called Secure Socket Layer (SSL). SSL encryption protects any personal information you send over the internet by making it difficult for that information to be deciphered by any systems other than the ones we use at VOI.
  3. VOI has developed a registration/sign in process so that your personal profile is password protected. you are the only one who has access to your personal information. you should always log out when you’re done with your session to ensure that others cannot access your account.

Email and Communication

We may send you email notifications regarding our service (such as invoices, reminders and notifications) or which you have specifically requested (such as newsletters). You have the ability to opt out of newsletters at any time but the notifications are part of the service we provide to keep you updated about your orders.

We will never provide your personal information or email address to any third parties except where they are specifically employed to help deliver our own services, as detailed above.

IP Addresses

An Internet Protocol address is a unique string of numbers assigned to your computer by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). All computers must have an IP address in order to connect to the Internet. This address may be the same every time you log on or a different number may be assigned each time you connect. User IP addresses are used by our Web server logs to count the number of users who visit different pages. We do not use this IP information in any other system.

When you visit our website or our apps, information relating to the pages you look at may be saved in files called "cookies" or with similar technologies, which are stored on the device that is being used to access the site. This page explains what cookies are, what they are used for and how you can adjust your settings to manage cookies.

What is a cookie?

Cookies are text files that may – depending on your settings – be stored on the hard drive of your device (be it a computer, tablet, mobile phone or any other device that can access the internet) when you visit a website or click on an advertisement. Cookies are used to identify the device on which they are saved and are operational for a limited period of time.

What are the cookies issued by our site used for?

There are many different types of cookies that may be saved on your device while browsing most commercial websites. VOI uses three types on our site. The intended purpose of each of these types of cookie is described below.

Technical cookies

Technical cookies are necessary to browse our site and access the various products and services that are available. They are used to:

  • Optimize the presentation of the website in line with your device's display preferences (language used, screen resolution, operating system, etc.)
  • Allow you to access personal areas (such as your user account or content that is reserved for you) on the basis of the information that you provided when creating your account;
  • Remember some information relating to forms that you have filled in on our website;
  • Compile statistics measuring visits to and use of our site;
  • Implement certain security measures.

These cookies must not be deactivated. If they are, you will have problems accessing the site and its services.

Audience-measuring cookies

Audience-measuring cookies are issued by us and/or our technical service providers in order to measure the number of people accessing our various types of content. These cookies are also used to identify any potential navigation problems and thus improve the website's usability. These cookies produce only anonymized statistics and do not provide information on individual visitors.

Social media and partners' cookies

Social media and partners' cookies allow you to share our site's content with other people or tell people what you think about content on the site. A number of sharing buttons are integrated into our site using third-party applications that could issue this type of cookie. This is true, for example, of Facebook's "like" and "share" buttons, as well as the "Twitter", "Google+", "YouTube" and "Instagram" buttons. The social network providing the button in question may be able to use that button application to identify you, even if you do not click on the relevant button while visiting our site. Indeed, that type of button application may allow the relevant social network to see your browsing activity on our site if your account with that social network is active on your device (i.e. an open session) while you are browsing our site. We suggest you consult the privacy policies of those social networks to see what browsing information acquired via such button applications is ultimately used for (as regards advertising, for example). Those privacy policies should allow you to indicate your wishes to the relevant social network in respect of cookies, notably by adjusting the settings on your user account

Acceptance or blocking of cookies

You can choose to activate or deactivate some or all of the above-mentioned cookies at any time (with the exception of technical cookies necessary for the functioning of the site) by following the instructions below. You can accept or block cookies on a case-by-case basis, or you can block all cookies. Please note, however, that changing your settings in this way may affect your access to content and services on our site that require the use of cookies. We suggest, therefore, that you adjust the settings on your browser on the basis of the intended purpose of the various cookies. We will not accept any responsibility for any consequences relating to improper functioning of our services where it results from our inability to save or consult cookies necessary for the functioning of those services or if you have blocked or deleted those cookies. If you consent to the saving of cookies contained in content that you have accessed, those cookies will be stored temporarily in a dedicated location on your device. Please note that you can also adjust the settings on your browser so that it indicates the cookies that are being stored on your device and asks you whether you want to accept them.

Adjusting your settings on different browsers

When it comes to the management of cookies, each browser is set up in a different way. This will be covered by your browser's help menu, which will tell you how to adjust your cookie settings. Click on the relevant link below to access detailed information regarding cookie settings – should your browser not be mentioned here, we invite you to look into the possibilities such a browser offers to adjust your cookie settings:

Other ways to block cookies

Depending on the type of cookie, there are other ways of managing cookies that do not involve adjusting your browser's settings.

Blocking audience-measuring cookies

Audience-measuring cookies have been placed on our site by Google Analytics. You can block these specific cookies by clicking on the deactivation link below, downloading the add-on and installing it on your browser. This add-on is compatible with the following browsers: Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Opera.
